White House drugs adviser and Stanford University professor Keith Humphreys opened this year’s Plenary - along with David Burrowes MP, Baroness Massey, John Southworth and Ken Seeley - with an incisive presentation on the fundamental changes arising from President Obama’s healthcare reforms and the new National Drug Control Strategy.
The US reforms will extend access to healthcare services to an extra 30million people - see also the Addiction Today May 2010 issue for hardcopy details.

UKESAD 2010 gave the opportunity to catch up with international interventionist John Southworth. With both personal and professional experiences in the field of substance abuse and mental health for over 40 years, he uses his experience and knowledge to assist individuals and families through their own personal struggles. Talking openly and honestly with his own unique style he explains to George Williams the role of intervention. He has learned that addiction can be fatal if the appropriate education and steps to recovery are not taken. Click here to learn more about life-saving education.
