NATIONAL PROGRAMME ON SUBSTANCE ABUSE DEATHS
ST GEORGE'S UNIVERSITY OF LONDON
The National Programme on Substance Abuse Deaths is managed by the International Centre for Drug Policy, which is within the Division of Mental Health, St George's University of London. Key points from its 2008 report - with the self-explanatory title Increase in the number of drug-related deaths - are:

the proportion of deaths involving methadone increased from 17% to 20%

the proportion of cases involving cocaine rose from 11% to 16%
-
the proportion of cases involving alcohol with other substances rose from 34% to 38%.
