POLICE CHIEFS WARN OF CRYSTAL METH EPIDEMIC
The Association of Chief Police Officers warned [15 February] that the UK could suffer an epidemic of methamphetamine addiction within two years. A class-A drug, it triggers violence and could be "as big a problem as crack cocaine". ACPO revealed that 19 crystal meth 'factories' have been raided in the past two years.
Addiction Today published an article on methamphetamines in 2005. Highlights were:
- Despite claims that only 5% of people dependent on it can recover, research showed over 60% success rates from appropriate treatment
- It is not necessary to design completely new treatment approaches for methamphetamine dependency - the focus should be on enhancing existing treatment with supplemental services.
We will be republishing the article on this website later in February. Watch this space.

Crystal meth epidemic is not good. It tells how worst our condition regarding drugs. Hope there should be a much better laws created to control the dangerous drugs.
